Minister Patricia Story Edwards is the daughter of the late Deacon William Story and Deaconess Virginia Story. She has a daughter, Anitra, grandson Jordan and a son Erick (Susan), grandson Emanuele of Connecticut.
Minister Edwards received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University in Winston Salem, North Carolina and a M.S. in Early Childhood from Eastern Connecticut University She received her certificate of Ministry
from the Black Ministers Program of the Hartford Seminary of Connecticut on May 29, 2009.
Minister Edwards is a retired teacher of 35 years in the New London School system of Connecticut, but was called back into teaching to be a one on one tutor. She is a past member of the NAACP and lifetime member of the National Council of Negro Women. She is one of the founders of Swing Phi Swing fellowship incorporated founded in 1969. In 1976 to 1980, Minister Edwards held the office of President of Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation of New London County.
She received the Community Service Award in 1993 from the NAACP and Teacher of The Year from New London Public Schools System. In 2000, the Rotary Chapter of New London County honored her with the Unsung Hero Award. She received the Certificate of Appreciation NAACP Act-So, in 2002. Minister Edwards was included in “Who’s Who, Among America’s Teachers,” honoring our nation’s most respected teachers, editions 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.
Minister Patricia Edwards has been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church since 1956 and served as the first Junior Church chairperson, past staff member of SCAG and past Trustee Board member. She has served as Director of Sunday School, sound room, and Vice President of the Dorcas Missionary Society. Minister Edwards has been a part of the Drama and Dance Ministry. At present, Minister Edwards is Vice President of Women’s Auxiliary, Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention, President of The Dorcas Missionary Society and President of the Shiloh Baptist Church Scholarship Program. She is a licensed staff member of the kitchen at Shiloh. She is a member of Shiloh’s Women of Excellence, Debutante Committee and Youth Ministry. Minister Edwards was one of the original advisory board members and a tutor of the STAR program at her church and a private tutor. She is the host of “Insight” Gospel Radio Program- WNLC of New London.
